Over the next four months, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences
Centre will engage in a strategic planning process that will
transform our Regional, Community hospital to an Academic
Health Sciences Centre that will be a source of pride and
healing for present and future communities in Northwestern
Ontario.
A Steering Committee comprised of 24 energetic and experienced
staff and leadership from the Health Sciences Centre will
provide oversight and strategic direction for the planning
process. The composition of this committee represents both
emerging and historical perspectives of where we have come
from as an organization, and how we will contribute to the
future health and vitality of our city and region.
The Steering Committee, with the support of expert strategic
planning consultants from Queen’s University, will consult
broadly with stakeholder groups and individuals from throughout
Northwestern Ontario as we build a strategic plan that reflects
our collective priorities for acute health services, education
and research.
Through the planning process, we expect to make tough decisions
about how our organization must change, where we must invest
new resources and where these resources will come from. We
will analyze areas for considerable performance improvement
and make hard decisions about programs and services that may
not be our strength or our core business.
The strategic plan will lead to a tangible blue print for
our future, embedded in concrete initiatives and actions.
It will breathe new life into Thunder Bay Regional Health
Sciences Centre and demand substantive changes to organizational
culture and traditional paradigms.
If you would like to know more about the strategic planning
process, I invite you to review the PowerPoint
presentation (Adobe PDF 89 KB) that is linked to this
site.
Sincerely,
Ron Saddington
President & CEO
