Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is extremely proud of our compassionate and dedicated volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to help our patients, families, visitors and staff.  More than 500 volunteers contribute 34,000 hours of service annually, in 30 different volunteer roles.  All of our volunteers enhance TBRHSC’s patient and family centred care as administrative, clinic, patient care, greeting or retail support.

In a recent survey of our Volunteer program, a phenomenal 100% of volunteers surveyed said that they would recommend TBRHSC as a place to volunteer!  Furthermore, they said:

  • “It is the best job I’ve ever had!  The work suits my personality perfectly, and I feel valued for the work I do for others.”
  • “As a grade 12 student aspiring to be a Pediatrician, I love volunteering at TBRHSC because the staff and patients are very welcoming and it’s exciting to see what I’ll be dealing with on a daily basis one day.”
  • “I think being a volunteer is so rewarding.  You go home feeling good about yourself.  You know you made a difference by a smile, a touch on the shoulder, or just listening.  I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my retirement hours.  I have met so many other volunteers who feel exactly like me.  The volunteers are awesome.  The staff has nothing but praise for volunteers.  They all know we make a big difference.”
