Volunteer Services Application Process

Volunteers at TBRHSC fall into one of the following categories: Adult, College and University Students, and High School Student (16 years and older).

 

If you decide that you would like to apply, all volunteers must complete the following steps. Print the Application Package which includes the Application Form and two Reference Forms.

  1. Application Form: Complete and submit the application form to Volunteer Services.
     
  2. Reference Forms: Complete the top portion of the two Reference Forms and give one each to two people that know you well. An employer, teacher or friend are ideal referees. No family members please. Ask them to complete and submit the form directly to Volunteer Services, as indicated at the bottom of the form.
     
  3. Interview: You may be contacted for a short interview to further discuss volunteer opportunities and placement.
     
  4. Criminal Records Search (Enhanced): This is a requirement for those who are 18 years of age and older who are interested in Pediatrics.

Upon acceptance, you will be required to:
 
  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation Session and Area-Specific Training.
     
  • Health Screening: Prior to starting their program specific training, volunteers must submit the results of a negative 2-step Tuberculosis (TB) test and provide proof of immunization. The TB test can be administered through a family physician, Victorian Order of Nurses, or through the TBRHSC Occupational Health Department. We can supply documentation for local clinic information and fees.

 

Adults (non-students)
We accept applications from non-student Adults three times throughout the year. The deadlines to apply are: January 15, May 15, and October 15. For those who submit Application Forms, we will be in touch after the deadline to discuss the next steps.

 

College and University Students
We accept application from post-secondary students twice during the year. The deadlines to apply are: May 15 (summer placement) and October 15 (fall placement). For those who submit Application Forms, we will be in touch after the deadline to discuss the next steps.

 

High School Students (16 years of age and older)

We accept applications from High School Students, 16 years and older, throughout the year. These applications will be reviewed twice a year. The deadlines to apply are: May 15 (summer placement) and October 15 (for Fall/Winter/Spring placement). We will be in touch after the deadline to discuss the next session.

Youth Summer Volunteer Team

Times:
Days, evenings and weekends from Canada - Labour Day
Service areas:
All areas depending upon availability of shift openings
