Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre officially joins eCHN.

Click to listen to this page using ReadPlease eCHNThunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre officially joins the electronic Child Health Network (eCHN).

The eCHN is an electronic database that facilitates healthcare providers to exchange health information regarding patients who are 19 years of age or younger. The network operates in Ontario.

When patients consent to releasing health information to another facility connected to the electronic Child Health Network, the information is electronically shared with the health care facility providing service, if requested. Strict protocols are followed to ensure confidentiality.

The Electronic Medical Record is supported through the Meditech system at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. As a component of the Electronic Medical Record, the eCHN, for example, enhances care since documented medical history is readily available, and duplicate tests do not have to be done on patients when they arrive at another facility for care, both saving time and money.

Seamless by concept, the eCHN once again places TBHRSC at the forefront of state-of-the-art healthcare.
