Delays in Patient Care Due To Meditech Code Problems

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Click to listen to this page using ReadPlease Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and healthcare partners in Thunder Bay and the region of Northwestern Ontario continue to function without the full use of the Meditech Computer Hospital Information System Services.

Meditech facilitates the movement of patient data. The data could relate to the Emergency Department, in-patient nursing units, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory Services, and other patient care areas, to name a few.

What this interruption of service effectively does is force us to deliver care in a slower fashion.

Outpatient lab testing will continue to be restricted to our patients requiring urgent testing only.

All other patient appointments including out-patient rehabilitation, diagnostic testing and surgeries are proceeding as scheduled.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as wait times remain longer than usual.

Please be assured that there has been no risk to patient data. We remain focused on patient care and safety.
