We envision 2010 as another year of fulfilled expectations at TBRHSC. Our performance as an academic Health Sciences Centre, with a strong research component, and Patient and Family Centred Care enables us to make a huge impact on healthcare in our city, region, and beyond.

The Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute continues to recruit some of the finest scientists in the world. Translating promise into reality brings hope for patients and families, as well as enhanced economic expectations for our community and region. Our plan of care is to meld research with patient needs. It is innovative care. We believe that this “bench to bedside” patient-centred care brings the best of all our opportunities together.

We are technologically advanced utilizing Telemedicine, Picture Archival Communication Systems, Electronic Medical Record, MRI, CT, and PET CT. Clinicians and scientists are able to collaborate with patients and families in a “state-of-the-art” environment to achieve healthcare goals like few other acute care hospitals in the world. Our strong leadership teams are passionate with a bold “plan of care”.

This year again, we recognize that we face both budget and human resource challenges. The slow economic recovery impacts our government source of funds and consequently us. As well, a number of our senior healthcare providers are retiring from work. However, we are seeing young people take on responsibilities and achieve great things. We are grateful for our education partners who prepare our people for rewarding careers.

We thank our terrific physicians, staff, and volunteers for their ongoing accomplishments. We continue to be recognized with national and international awards. Our healthcare teams are lead by innovative, passionate people. They continue to seek new ways to serve patients and families. We all benefit from this.
