Dr.
Dimitrios Vergidis
Chief of Oncology
Dr. Vergidis has led an interesting and varied career
in Medicine and Oncology. Since his early days in medicine
at the New York Institute of Technology and the University
of Alberta, his training has included Internal Medicine,
Haematology, Immunology and Medical Oncology.
He has trained medical students through the Department
of Internal Medicine and Haematology at the University
of Alberta, and is currently an Associate Clinical Professor
in the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University. His
participation with medical associations, various boards
and committees is extensive, reaching provincial and
national levels.
He is extensively published, independently and collaboratively,
and has received numerous awards and distinctions. Dr.
Vergidis joined Regional Cancer Care in 1991, and has
operated as the Head of Medical Oncology and Haematology
and the Coordinator of the Systemic Therapy Network
for a number of years.
He maintains an active practice, and based upon patient
reaction, he often goes above and beyond the expectations
of his position. In September of 2003, Dr. Vergidis
was named Chief of Oncology for RCC.
