Obstetricians
Currently there are 5 obstetricians providing obstetrical care in Thunder Bay. Referrals are accepted for pre-natal care after 20 weeks gestation or in high risk pregnancies.

Family Physicians
Thunder Bay has 9 Family Physicians who provide pre and post natal care to low to moderately high risk pregnancies. To book an appointment with Maternity Centre Family Physicians please call 684-6228.

Midwives
Four midwifes practice out of the Maternity Centre: Barbra Kemeny, Diane Pudus, and Eileen Abby. Each provide pre and post natal care to low risk pregnancies. Appointments must be booked by calling 684-6043.

Nurse Practitioner
The Nurse Practitioner at the Maternity centre works in partnership with the family physicians, obstetricians and midwives in providing pre-conception counseling, pregnancy screening, pre-natal and post natal care for patients without primary health care physicians and/or for those whose family physicians do not provide obstetrical or delivery services.

Our Nurse Practitioner can provide the following services:

• Pre-natal care
• Post-natal care
• Newborn care to 6 weeks for mom’s who are followed primarily by our NP
• Anonymous Pregnancy testing
• Link the patient with the most appropriate practitioner (family physicians, midwives and obstetricians) for delivery and assist them in finding a primary health care provider for themselves and their newborn
• Referral to support staff: social worker, dietician, exercise therapist, quit coach and liaison cultural worker
