The
Maternity Centre Social Worker is available to provide education,
support and counselling to pregnant women and their families.
The Social Worker helps women and their families with a variety
of social and emotional issues that may emerge during pregnancy
and the post-partum period. These issues may include:
- Financial concerns and assistance accessing housing
- Relationship difficulties
- Worries, concerns or depression during pregnancy
- Difficulties with drugs and alcohol
- Preparing to become a parent
- Assistance accessing community resources and supports
For families who experience pregnancy loss or newborn death
the Social Worker can offer grief counselling. The Maternity
Centre Social Worker is also able to provide counselling support
to women who are considering termination or adoption placement.

Provides immediate crisis assessment and intervention, referral
