The Neurosurgical Unit is a 10 bed unit, which includes a 4 bed observation room. The unit opened in 1971 and is the only Neurosurgical unit between Sault Ste. Marie and Manitoba.

We currently have two Neurosurgeons providing comprehensive care for those patients requiring neurosurgical interventions. Our nursing staff is extremely dedicated and specially trained in neuroscience. They have a great deal of experience in dealing with all aspects of patient care.

Our multidisciplinary team includes nurses, physicians, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, a dietician, respiratory therapy, pastoral care, as well as other support staff. We encourage and support family participation in planning for the care of our patients.
