  • Sometimes a contrast material (fluid) may be needed to provide clearer pictures (images) during your CT Scan.
  • The outpatient nurse will get you ready to receive this fluid by placing a small tube into your vein.
  • This is called an intravenous (I.V.) and provides the quickest way for fluids to enter your body.
  • For more information about an I.V., ask your nurse or Child Life Specialist and they will help you understand and prepare.
