- Before your MRI, you may need to have an I.V.
(intravenous).
- Your nurse and Child Life Specialist can help
explain how an I.V. works.
- I.V. is the quickest way for fluids to enter your
body.
- I.V. is used to give your body a small amount
of contrast material (clear fluid) during your MRI.
- This material helps provide clearer images if
needed.
- This clear fluid will leave your body through
urine (pee) within 24 hours.
